Handmade Haven is a fantastic blog run by our friend Ashley. She creates some crazy awesome projects and likes to give you free tutorials on how to create the beautiful works of art that she comes up with. Last week Ashley created a coffee table that she calls the Oakley Coffee Table and we are completely in love with what she’s done!

Ashley is an engineer who recently found a new love for DIY and woodworking so it’s no surprise that she can come up with some amazing projects that are not only beautiful, but extremely functional. Ashley says that she finds “GREAT JOY in bringing BEAUTY FROM ASHES.”  We love her blog, and this project as well. We only hope you feel the same way.

Ashley used some of our House of Wood Coffee Table Legs (Part #1332) to create this Oakley Coffee Table. She wanted to use these legs, but didn’t want to go the traditional route that everyone seems to be taking lately. She decided to go her own way with these legs rather than creating another balustrade coffee table. The most amazing part of this coffee table, is the way she finished it.

Ashley used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (expensive, we know) and finished it off with a dark walnut gel stain. Ashley seems to think that this technique would work well with any other chalk paint, but she personally prefers the quality of Annie Sloan. We can see why, because this table turned out beautifully the way she finished it. It gives it a nice, rustic look that many people are going for these days.

You can create a coffee table like this of your own by following Ashley’s step by step instructions that you can find on Kreg. But make sure to stop by our website and get your coffee table legs before you go so you have what you need to start your project. We can’t wait to see all of the Oakley Coffee Tables that come from this and we hope that you love it when you create it! Just don’t forget to send us pictures because we love seeing what you’re capable of creating!
